#AdventWord 2021: Justice
Here’s a version of the Magnifcat I wrote semi-recently, attempting to reimagine some things:
I join with my foremothers, whom God has remembered according to God's promises,
showing mercy;
with my entire being, I praise and magnify God, who has delivered me.
God has smiled upon me, God's servant-vessel, in my disadvantageous state.
Look! God has done great and powerful things for me, and from now, all generations will call me blessed.
God's name is holy.
God shows mercy and compassion to all generations, to those who fear her.
God's arm is powerful and has scattered the arrogant in their most cherished thoughts of the heart.
God has pulled the rulers down from their thrones, but raises the poor and humble.
God has filled the hungry with good things, but has sent the rich away, empty-handed.
Praise be to God, who helps Israel forever.
